June is the month the industry stops pacing itself. Pixar drops its biggest swing in years, HBO sends the dragons back to war, Spielberg releases his first original sci-fi story in decades, and FX lets Carmy go — for good this time. Five releases we'd rearrange a week around. The full calendar is below — these are the ones worth planning for.
Disclosure Day — June 12, Theaters & IMAX
Steven Spielberg's first original sci-fi story in decades, written with David Koepp (Jurassic Park). A first-contact thriller starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, and Colman Domingo. Early reviews are raves. Spielberg doing UFOs again is the cinematic event of the month — see it in IMAX or don't bother.
Supergirl — June 26, Theaters
Milly Alcock takes flight as Kara Zor-El in the DCU's adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow — less hopeful farm girl, more interstellar revenge story, with Jason Momoa chewing scenery as Lobo. Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) directs. If James Gunn's DC reboot has a make-or-break summer test, this is it.
House of the Dragon — Season 3 — June 21, HBO & HBO Max
The Dance of the Dragons goes full-scale war. The premiere runs 72 minutes — the longest episode in the show's history — then it's weekly through August 9. Sundays belong to Westeros again.
Toy Story 5 — June 19, Theaters
Hanks and Allen are back, and this time Woody and Buzz are up against the one enemy no toy survives: screens. Taylor Swift wrote an original song for it. The premiere happened right here in LA on June 9 — the rest of us get it Juneteenth weekend.
Jackass: Best and Last — June 26, Theaters
The fifth and final Jackass film, 25 years after the first dumb stunt. Knoxville, Steve-O, and the original crew take one last run at it, with never-before-seen footage from the vault. Some franchises end with a battle. This one ends with a man being launched out of something.
Honorable mention: The Bear — Season 5, the series finale (June 25, Hulu). All 8 episodes at once. Five seasons of kitchen panic attacks come down to one question: does Carmy make it out?
🎬 In Theaters: June 2026 Movie Releases
Week 1 (June 4–9) belongs to Masters of the Universe — the first He-Man feature in almost 40 years, with Nicholas Galitzine under the armor, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. Same day, the Wayans family returns to Scary Movie for the first time since 2001, with Anna Faris and Regina Hall back in the fold. And John Carney (Once, Sing Street) gives us Power Ballad: Paul Rudd as a washed-up wedding singer at war with Nick Jonas over a stolen song.
Week 2 (June 12) is Spielberg week. Disclosure Day is the only conversation.
Week 3 (June 19) is Pixar's. Toy Story 5 anchors Juneteenth weekend, with A24's The Death of Robin Hood — a wounded, grizzled Hugh Jackman, directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig) — as the counter-programming for everyone who doesn't want to share a theater with someone's birthday party.
Week 4 (June 26) goes loud: Supergirl, the final Jackass, and Olivia Wilde's The Invite, starring Wilde and Seth Rogen as a couple whose dinner party detonates, with Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz next door.

Re-release corner: June is quietly a great month for second chances — Trainspotting turns 30 (June 5), The Birdcage is back June 7, Studio Ghibli's Ponyo returns June 13, and Ocean's Eleven hits theaters June 21 before the heist genre gets its next reboot. If you've only ever seen these on a laptop, fix that.
📺 Streaming & TV: June 2026 Premieres
The big swings: House of the Dragon S3 (June 21, HBO) and The Bear's final season (June 25, Hulu) are the twin pillars. But don't sleep on Interview with the Vampire Season 3 — retitled The Vampire Lestat (June 7, AMC/AMC+) — which sends Sam Reid's Lestat on a full rock-god world tour, adapting Anne Rice's second novel. It's the best show on TV that your friends still haven't started.
The sleeper hit already happening: Office Romance (June 5, Netflix) — Jennifer Lopez as an airline CEO, Brett Goldstein as her company lawyer. It hit #1 on Netflix with roughly 21 million views its opening weekend. You will be asked about it at a barbecue this month. Be ready.

Watching It in LA
A few releases this month hit different if you're local. Disclosure Day was built for the biggest screen you can find — the IMAX at Universal CityWalk and the TCL Chinese are the moves. Toy Story 5 premiered in LA on June 9, and Juneteenth-weekend matinees will be a zoo — book ahead.
