5 QUESTIONS WITH TRENT FOO
1. What's the most exciting project you're working on right now?
I’ve got a few things happening at the moment—some I can talk about, and some I can’t. One I’m most excited about is a stage production I wrote called A Chinese Christmas which is my love letter to my grandma and a celebration of the people who raised us. I’m planning to stage a season of it in 2025, so it’s definitely a passion project of mine.
2. Can you share a behind-the-scenes moment that had an impact on you or the cast?
I performed in a theatre show called Is There Anybody Out There?, which explores the theme of romantic love and addresses the rise of domestic violence in our culture. On multiple occasions, I went out into the foyer to chat with the audience and ended up staying back for hours, listening to people share their experiences with the topic and how the show impacted them. I was blown away by these conversations, and it reminded me of how powerful and meaningful art can be. That experience has truly shaped who I am as a creative and the kinds of projects I choose to work on.
3. How do you see the role of technology, AI, and social media evolving in the film industry?
I think AI technology has the potential to be an incredibly useful tool for artists and creatives across all mediums. The big concern is when it’s used unethically. When artists’ work are stolen to feed generative AI and creatives aren’t compensated fairly. It’s a hot topic within the entertainment industry, and there are a lot of people working very hard to regulate AI usage so that it’s done ethically. Big shout-out to all the unions fighting to protect artists and their rights. I love the idea of AI being used to assist and enhance human creativity, rather than replacing it. I personally find it great for helping me with certain admin tasks like organizing schedules or designing workout plans.
Social media is a standard now. The industry uses it to communicate with each other, market productions, and build brand awareness – and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I think it can be a great tool when used ethically and in moderation.
4. What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an actor in 2025?
Take the time to get to know yourself. It’s so important because otherwise, the world will try to define you before you get the chance to do it yourself. And never give up on yourself. The challenges you’re facing today will give you the tools you need to succeed. Adversity only makes you stronger.
5. What is your favorite place to visit in Los Angeles?
Two places come to mind:
Los Amigos Bar and Grill in Burbank. It’s a great spot where my manager and I love to hang out—I’ve met some amazing people there, and the karaoke is always a good time.

The Baked Potato in Studio City. It’s a super chill jazz club with an incredible vibe—good music, food, drinks, and people. What more could you ask for?
