About LA Today
We live here. We eat here. We party here.
We've been going to most of these places for years. That's the entire editorial policy.

LA Today is written by people who live here. People with a favorite taco stand, a preferred route through Laurel Canyon, and a firm view on which stair-street has the best skyline. We know which beach is foggy in June, and we know which places are still open, because we go.
We started because this city deserves a publication that knows it the way a local does, and shares it the way you'd share it with a friend who just moved here.
Two guides we've checked beat ten that are filler.
How we work
We check everything, and then we check it again
We went through our entire venue catalogue by hand and called, visited, or verified each one, updating the ones that had moved, refreshing the ones that had rebranded, and correcting every link. Then we set a schedule to keep doing it: top guides every six months, seasonal pieces before their season, everything else on a rolling year.
When you see "Verified July 2026" on a guide, it means a human confirmed every place on that list was still standing. It's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Every listing is curated by a human
Every event on the calendar passes through human hands: we filter what comes in, cut what doesn't belong, and write every summary ourselves. Curated by humans, updated constantly.
What we make
A weekly newsletter. An events calendar for all of LA County. Guides to where to eat, what to do, and where to stay. The LA Today Show. Spotlights. Our own LA Today events, produced live around the city. And a print and digital magazine, coming soon.
