October's headline is Spacca Tutto, Nancy Silverton's Italian-American steakhouse in Palisades Village, open since the 15th. The same day, Votana threw its grand opening inside the Hotel Clark downtown. Bar Fortuna, from the Crudo e Nudo team, opened on Main Street in Santa Monica on the 21st, and Little Luck turned Bootsy Bellows into an izakaya. Add Gott's Roadside by the Promenade, Brodard in Long Beach, Swingers on the Eastside, a wagyu smash burger in Brentwood and the first US Bingz, and that's the month. Announced for the Palisades Village reopening in August, then September, Nancy Silverton's steakhouse finally opened on Thursday, October 15. It is a Mozza Group project, built with Caruso and New School Hospitality: a 108-seat room by AvroKO, plus a sheltered patio. Nick Russo is executive chef. The name is Italian for something close to "go get 'em," and Silverton has framed it around the neighborhood's rebuild.

The menu is chi Spacca at steakhouse scale. Start with the focaccia di Recco ($34, add Iberian ham for $18), then pick a cut: an 8-ounce filet is $88, a 12-ounce New York strip $68, the 24-ounce vaca vieja côte de boeuf $185, and the 50-ounce Creekstone porterhouse $295. Pollo alla diavola on a crostone is $48 if you aren't there for beef. Cocktails run $18 to $22 and the list holds close to 250 Italian and domestic wines.

Know before you goLunch is 11:30am to 2pm daily and adds a hanger steak panini ($36) and Nancy's burger ($28). Dinner is 5 to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, 5 to 10pm Friday and Saturday. Park in the Village garage.

The Hotel Clark, a 1914 building on Hill Street that sat empty since the late 1990s, finally opened in September, and its all-day restaurant held its grand opening party on October 15. Executive chef Gio Koletty, previously of the Peninsula Beverly Hills and Casa del Mar, cooks California produce through a Greek, Italian, Spanish and Southern French lens. There's a second-floor pool deck for drinks and a wine list past 150 labels.

Breakfast is where the prices are posted: the Clark Breakfast is $25, shakshuka $26, steak and eggs $36, and a 60-minute free-flow sparkling add-on is $45 at weekend brunch. Dinner runs hamachi crudo, mezze, penne alla vodka and a whole branzino, with cocktails from $18.

Know before you goBreakfast Monday to Friday 7 to 11am, brunch Saturday and Sunday 7am to 2:30pm, dinner nightly from 5pm, last seating around 10:30. Pershing Square station is a block away, which beats parking on Hill Street.

Brian Bornemann built Crudo e Nudo into the Westside's seafood bar. Bar Fortuna, in the old Vamos Vamos space on Main Street, is his Italian one: a neighborhood cocktail and wine bar with handmade pasta, a run of negronis, and amaro poured into antique glassware. Noah Castellanos runs the bar, JD Plotnick the wine list, Jose Morales the kitchen. The house rules are the kind of thing Bornemann does on purpose: no parmesan or pecorino, no steak, and pasta made from locally stone-milled whole wheat.

Hours are Wednesday and Thursday 5 to 10pm, Friday to Sunday noon to 10pm, with the bar and late bites running to midnight. An espresso walk-up window comes in the mornings.

Know before you goReservations are held for 5 to 9:30pm. Walk in for lunch and after 9:30. Opening-week hours may move, so check the site before you drive.

Diane Dang grew up in Nha Trang, where her family ran a French bakery, and opened the first Brodard in Orange County in 1996. It has been one of the state's best-known Vietnamese restaurants ever since, and the grilled pork spring rolls are the reason. This is the first location outside Orange County, in the former Tocaya space at 2nd & PCH, with indoor and patio seating.

Prices are on its own site: the grilled pork rolls are $7.50, shaken beef bo luc lac $24.95, Hanoi pork vermicelli $20.95, seafood claypot $23.95 and the crispy duck garlic noodles $31.95. Vietnamese crepes and a beef pho round out the familiar end of the menu.

West HollywoodJapanese izakayaOpenTableDinner, late

The h.wood Group (Delilah, The Nice Guy) turned the old Bootsy Bellows space on Sunset into its first Japanese restaurant, open since Monday, October 19. Executive chef Erik Idos, an LA native who spent close to a decade with Nobu and ran its Hong Kong kitchens, cooks a modern izakaya menu built for sharing: sashimi and nigiri, skewers and charcoal-grilled meats off the robata, rice and noodle dishes, and a crispy quail karaage.

The room is dark on purpose, with a vinyl booth stocked with a few thousand records and two private rooms with built-in karaoke. Kevin Lee, a certified Japanese ice master, runs the cocktails, so the ice gets carved by hand.

Know before you goDinner from 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and it runs late (OpenTable shows last seatings past midnight on weekends). Smart casual. No menu prices were posted when we checked; OpenTable pegs it at $31 to $50 a head.

The Napa Valley burger stand, founded in St. Helena in 1999, opened its second Southern California location at 4th and Wilshire on October 2, a short walk from the Promenade and the Pier. It is a big one: 6,600 square feet inside, a 2,200-square-foot heated patio, more than a dozen community tables, and a bar with TVs.

Burgers, chicken sandwiches and tenders, fish tacos, seasonal salads and hand-spun shakes are the core. The bar pours a Napa list (Joel Gott, Rombauer, Caymus), rotating local drafts and a frosé. A separate soft-serve counter with a self-serve kiosk runs Straus organic soft serve, sundaes and cookies baked on site.

Owner Sean Martin calls it a California bakery with an accent. Founding baker François Pied trained at École Lenôtre in France and lead baker Abel Pulsifer came from Arizona; the two worked together at Bub and Grandma's before this. The space is on Airport Avenue by the Santa Monica Airport, on the Mar Vista line. It soft-opened in late September, ran a second soft-opening weekend from October 2, and the official opening is still to be announced.

Croissants take four days, with at least 18 hours of fermentation and hand lamination. The flour is French plus ancient grains from Hayden Flour Mills, and there is a butter list of eight, from Bordier to a goat butter to a plant-based one. Beyond the croissants: a shakshuka danish, a gruyère and chive quiche, sausage rolls, sesame epi, chocolate cramique, and sandwiches like ham with Comté. Coffee is Caffe Luxxe.

Toppings are chosen for you: whipped honey, matcha salt, crushed baklava, halva, pistachio cream, dates, figs, olive oil.

It soft-launched October 1 on Crescent Heights just south of Beverly and threw its grand opening on October 8. The house order is plain tart with halva, honey, olive oil and pistachio.

The Coffee Bean at Santa Monica and Hancock was a Rainbow District fixture for decades. Its replacement is a coffee shop run by the Men's Health Foundation, the nonprofit clinic upstairs, built as a daytime gathering spot rather than a bar. It soft-opened at the end of September and held its grand opening in mid-October.

Frequently asked

What are the best new restaurants in LA in October 2026?

As of October 2026, the openings that matter most are Spacca Tutto in Palisades Village (Nancy Silverton, opened October 15), Votana inside the Hotel Clark downtown (grand opening October 15), Bar Fortuna on Main Street in Santa Monica (opened October 21) and Little Luck on the Sunset Strip (opened October 19). For value, Brodard in Long Beach and Burger She Wrote in Brentwood. Birdie G's reopens in Century City on October 26.

Is Spacca Tutto open yet?

Yes. Nancy Silverton's Spacca Tutto opened on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 15255 Palisades Village Lane in Pacific Palisades. Lunch runs 11:30am to 2pm daily; dinner is 5 to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 5 to 10pm Friday and Saturday. Reservations are on OpenTable.

When does Birdie G's reopen?

Birdie G's reopens on Monday, October 26, 2026 inside the Fairmont Century Plaza at 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Century City. It is open all day, with coffee from 6am, and reservations are live on OpenTable.

Which October openings don't need a reservation?

Gott's Roadside, Burger She Wrote, Bingz, Swingers, Matilda's Bakery, Nudes Yogurt and The Front Porch are all walk-in. The Kickin' Crab runs an online waitlist. Bar Fortuna takes walk-ins at lunch and after 9:30pm.

Which new LA restaurants are open late in October 2026?

Swingers in Silver Lake runs its takeout window until 3am. Little Luck on the Sunset Strip seats past midnight on weekends, and Bar Fortuna in Santa Monica keeps its bar and late bites going until midnight. Votana serves dinner until about 10:30pm nightly, and Burger She Wrote in Brentwood is open until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

What restaurants closed in LA in October 2026?

Tar & Roses in Santa Monica closes after dinner on October 24, 2026 after 15 years. Crustacean Beverly Hills ended regular dinner service on September 30 after 30 years and closes for good when its lease ends on October 31; the building was sold.

The Verdict

Three things to do with this list.

Go to the Palisades for lunch. Spacca Tutto's lunch menu is shorter, cheaper and easier to book than dinner, and a $36 hanger steak panini is the best new midday meal on the Westside.

Book Bar Fortuna for a weeknight. Wednesday and Thursday are dinner-only and the room will be calmer than the weekend, when it runs from noon. The negroni list is the reason to go; the pasta is why you stay.

Do the Strip on a Tuesday. Little Luck is the first real reason in years to book dinner on Sunset west of La Cienega, and a weeknight gets you the robata without the weekend DJ crowd.

Take the Westside's new counters seriously. Gott's, Burger She Wrote and Matilda's all opened on the Westside inside the same week. Between them, Santa Monica and Brentwood got a better burger, a better croissant and a better patio.

Did we miss one? Tell us. A place that opened in October and isn't here, a date we got wrong, a dish we should have named: info@traveltodayla.com. We update this page.

For the rest of the month, start with our guide to fall in Los Angeles. Last month's openings are in the August edition, and the full year is in every LA restaurant that opened in 2025.
