The LA Spring Bucket List 2026 checklist poster. 21 Things to Do in LA This Spring.

The Spring Bucket List That Isn't About the Hollywood Sign.

Skip the postcard. This is where locals are actually going this spring.

Twenty-one things to do. Some are classic. Some just opened. All of them are specific — picked by locals who actually live here, not people Googling "things to do in LA." Your LA Spring Bucket List awaits.

1. Picnic Movie Night at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery where a large crowd is watching a projected movie in the middle of Los Angeles covered in palm trees.

Cinespia is the most LA thing you can do in a single evening — a thousand people on blankets, a film on a mausoleum wall, a DJ between the dead. It runs Saturdays in spring, and the lineup leans cult.

The veterans show up with cheese boards from the Trader Joe's on Fairfax and call it a Saturday.

📍 Where: Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038

🎟️ Cost: $24+

💡 Insider Move: Beer and wine are allowed. Hard liquor is not. Chairs must be max 6" off the ground with backs no taller than 21" — beach chairs get turned away at the gate. Side-street parking 4–5 PM beats the Santa Monica Blvd line.

2. A Sunset Horseback Ride Through the Hills

Horseback Ride Through the Hills at Sunset Ranch Hollywood.

Sunset Ranch is the one ride that still feels classic LA without trying. The Sunset Dinner Ride is the one to book — two hours up through Griffith Park, dinner at a Mexican spot in Burbank, then back down after dark with the city lit up below you.

📍 Where: Sunset Ranch Hollywood, 3400 N Beachwood Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068

🎟️ Cost: $75+

💡 Insider Move: This isn't a beginner trail. Cliffside switchbacks, real horses, long pants and closed-toe shoes only. Confirm Viva Fresh as the dinner stop when you book — the swap happens.

3. The Geffen Galleries at LACMA

A group of people tours the spacious, modern galleries, walking through exhibits in an educational and cultural setting at LACMA David Geffen Galleries.

LACMA's new $724M David Geffen Galleries opened April 19, and it's the biggest cultural moment in LA this year. Critics are split on the building. The antiquities rooms are where it actually sings.

📍 Where: Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 5905 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036

🎟️ Cost: $0-$30

💡 Insider Move: Block Party on June 20, 10 AM–7 PM. Free, all day, DJs and kids' activities. No ticket needed. This is the move.

4. A Quiet Hour at Lake Shrine

The Golden Lotus Temple overlooks a peaceful lake, surrounded by greenery, creating a calm and spiritual atmosphere at Lake Shrine.

The Self-Realization Fellowship gardens in the Palisades are the calmest acre in the city. Lake, swans, a windmill. A 1,000-year-old Chinese stone sarcophagus that holds a portion of Gandhi's ashes — which most people walk past without realizing.

📍 Where: Lake Shrine, 17190 Sunset Blvd. Pacific Palisades, CA 90272

🎟️ Cost: FREE

💡 Insider Move: Reservations drop every Saturday at 10 AM PT for the following week and go fast. Wed–Sun only. Sunday temple services don't require a booking — the back door if you missed the window. Phones away. Voices low. People are meditating.

5. A Dessert Crawl Through Little Tokyo

SomiSomi in Little Tokyo serves taiyaki soft-serve, featuring fish-shaped pastries filled with creamy ice cream in a fun and vibrant dessert setting.

A loop you can walk in 90 minutes. Start at Fugetsu-Do on 1st Street — open since 1903, mochi made fresh that morning. Walk to Somisomi for taiyaki soft-serve (custard filling, not red bean — trust). End at Tea Master for the matcha soft-serve everyone in LA actually argues about.

📍 Where: Little Tokyo DTLA, 315 E 1st St Los Angeles, CA 90012 (start)

🎟️ Cost: $2+

💡 Insider Move: Skip Mikawaya. It's grocery-store nationally. Locals route past it.

6. Golden Hour at SUSHISAMBA

Golden hour at SUSHISAMBA features warm sunset lighting and stunning skyline views, creating a stylish dining atmosphere.

The new West Hollywood location is the splashiest restaurant in town right now — a retractable dome roof over a former WeHo pool, with skyline views west. The food isn't life-changing. The room is the point.

Order the Samba LA Roll (Wagyu, soft-shell crab, chestnut purée — only at this location) and a Sakura Negroni.

📍 Where: SUSHISAMBA Los Angeles/West Hollywood, 639 N La Peer Dr. West Hollywood, CA 90069

7. A Staircase Walk Through Silver Lake

The hidden staircases that lace the hillsides of certain L.A. neighborhoods form a delightful network of walking “trails"

The Music Box Loop hits four hidden staircases — Music Box Steps (where Laurel & Hardy filmed in 1932), Cove Avenue (best view at the top), Swan Place, and the Micheltorena painted hearts. About two miles, 700-plus steps, an hour at a real pace.

📍 Where: Café Tropical corner Sunset and Parkman, 2900 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 (start)

🎟️ Cost: FREE

💡 Insider Move: Park near Silver Lake Blvd, not Sunset Junction. End at LAMILL on Silver Lake Blvd for the pastry — parking is easier and the walk justifies it.

The stylish interior of Cold Shoulder speakeasy, featuring dim lighting, cozy seating, and unique upside-down décor that creates a trendy and intimate atmosphere.

A speakeasy hidden behind a bookcase inside Blue Collar bar on South Fairfax. Thirty-six cocktails pulled from a thousand-recipe archive built over a decade. Bar stools on the ceiling. Upside-down picture frames. Knowing nods at the door.

9. A Swan Boat on Echo Park Lake

A swan boat on Echo Park Lake at night surrounded by city lights reflecting on the water, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere.

The pedal boats are all swan-shaped now. Five people fit. Twelve dollars an adult. The downtown skyline reflects off the water at golden hour and pretends it's a different city.

💡 Insider Move: Reservations required online — they switched to timed entry. Night Rides run until 10 PM weekdays and 11 PM weekends. That's the move. Lotus blooms peak in July; the 44th Annual Lotus Festival is July 11–12.

A scene from The Magic Flute at the LA Opera shows colorful stage designs and a dramatic theatrical atmosphere.

A cliffside view at Point Dume shows rugged edges overlooking the ocean, with dramatic coastal scenery and open horizon views.

13. Y2K Karaoke at Zero Lounge

Main lounge floor / karaoke seating area at Zero Lounge shows neon lighting and a central table in a lively entertainment space.

14. Sunday Slow at Brentwood Farmers Market

Many people browsing different stalls with fresh produce, food, and local goods in a lively outdoor setting at Brentwood Farmers Market.

The market on Gretna Green is small and quietly excellent — sourdough, roses, samples, and the recurring possibility of bumping into Ben Affleck buying produce.

📍 Where: Brentwood Farmers Market, 741 S Gretna Green Way, Los Angeles, CA 90049

🎟️ Cost: FREE

💡 Insider Move: Bring cash and a tote — some vendors are card-allergic. Valet on the Montana side if you don't want to circle. Arrive by 9:30 for the bread.
