The Academy Museum’s “The Horror Show” Turns a Gallery Floor Into Six Immersive Worlds
A 10-month immersive exhibition, September 2026 through July 2027, built around horror’s biggest films.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is going all in on horror. Its major immersive exhibition, The Horror Show, opens September 26, 2026 and runs through July 25, 2027, transforming a full gallery floor into six themed environments: Gothic, Psychological, Science, Slasher, Religion and Ghosts.
Rather than a seasonal pop-up, this is a nearly year-long, museum-grade production complete with a sound installation and recreated iconic settings, drawing on a lineup of more than 18 landmark films including Frankenstein, The Exorcist, Alien, Halloween, The Shining and Get Out. The exhibition sits inside the museum at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard and follows the museum's regular schedule, open Wednesday through Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM and closed Tuesdays.
