Six Los Angeles County locations deliver genuine storybook atmosphere, three of them free to enter, plus the sidewalk view of a private house. Greystone Mansion and Gardens, the 18.5 acre Doheny Estate in Beverly Hills, opens its public grounds daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., or 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in winter, with free admission and free parking and no grounds reservation needed, though the mansion interior opens only on select ticketed dates.

The Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades is free with a timed entry reservation; parking is 25 dollars per car or motorcycle, or 15 dollars after 3 p.m., and Getty parking is cashless.
