Universal's Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Coaster Soft Opens at 72 MPH
The fastest coaster in Universal's global portfolio began technical rehearsals July 27, with ride vehicles that rotate a full 360 degrees.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift entered technical rehearsals at Universal Studios Hollywood on July 27, 2026. Universal has not announced a formal grand opening date and its official language remains summer 2026, meaning operation is not guaranteed on any given day. The Intamin-built coaster runs 4,100 feet of track on an LSM launch system and reaches 72 mph, which Universal describes as the fastest roller coaster in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.
Its signature feature is a 360-degree rotation of individual ride vehicles to simulate drifting. The vehicles are modeled on Dom Toretto's 1970 Dodge Charger along with a Mazda RX-7, a Nissan Skyline GT-R and a Toyota Supra. The coaster is new construction built into the Upper Lot hillside, crossing over the Starway and diving under it. The separate Fast & Furious, Supercharged Studio Tour finale closed in March 2025.
