Secret Movie Club Screens the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on 35mm at the Los Angeles Theatre
Three films, one-hour intermissions and an afterparty in the secret rooms of a 1931 Broadway movie palace on September 6.

Secret Movie Club presents the Lord of the Rings trilogy on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the Los Angeles Theatre, 615 S Broadway, the downtown movie palace that opened in January 1931 with the world premiere of Charlie Chaplin's City Lights. The Fellowship of the Ring screens at 10 a.m., The Two Towers at 2 p.m. and The Return of the King at 6 p.m., with one-hour intermissions between films so audiences can explore the theatre and visit a level set up with bars, a food court and music.
The organizers say they are screening the original theatrical editions and are working to show 35mm prints, with DCP digital backups on hand. The day ends with the There and Back Again afterparty at 10 p.m., an after-hours event in the theatre's secret rooms for guests 21 and over.
Tickets are sold per film, as an all-day pass, or as an all-access pass that includes the afterparty. Doors open at 8 a.m.
