Pawn Shop Brings a 53-Screen Sports Club to Melrose

Los Angeles has a new contender for the city's most over-the-top place to watch a game. Pawn Shop, a Sports Bar & Kitchen that opened in July 2026 at 5901 Melrose Avenue, occupies a restored 1930s building (named for the pawn shop that once filled it) and fits 53 screens plus two video walls into a 7,808-square-foot room, with an audio system engineered so all 428 seats play like the best seat in the house. Seven stadium-style private mezzanine suites overlook the main floor, each with its own food and drink menu.

The kitchen is led by James Beard Award-winning chef Tony Messina, whose elevated game-day menu includes a hot dog topped with osetra caviar and charbroiled oysters with XO butter, while the bar program comes from industry veteran Jason Kilgore. The project, from founder Diego Torres-Palma, is backed by a notable investor group including Mark Cuban, Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman, Angel City captain Ali Riley and former NBA player Chandler Parsons.
