Slasher World on Melrose Hides a Horror VHS Room in the Back

Slasher World is a horror shop at 7660 Melrose Ave where a giant Art the Clown bust from Terrifier greets visitors and life-size Freddy Krueger and Leatherface replicas fill the front room alongside horror apparel, action figures and accessories. The back room holds Slashback Video, which the store calls an immersive throwback horror VHS experience, with vintage horror tapes, artwork and classic gaming cabinets.

Slashback Video began as a 2017 exhibit at Burbank's Mystic Museum and is on permanent display here, with covers ranging from The Shining, Carrie and Hellraiser to cult titles like Ghoulies, Dolly Dearest and Troll, plus international VHS art. The store is open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM, and until 8 PM on Saturdays.
