7 QUESTIONS
WITH XOË MILES
1. You've been serious about music since you were 12 and recorded your first album at 14 in Beyoncé's dad's old studio. Looking back at that young artist, what would surprise her most about where you are today?
Probably that I have the ability to produce my own music! I love going into studios and working with other creatives, but being able to just go into logic and record my own demos, as well as being able to produce them out, has been extremely helpful.
2. Growing up in the South, you mentioned people telling you to switch to country music, but you stayed true to your alt. pop sound. How did you develop the confidence to resist those pressures and stick to your authentic artistic vision?
It honestly has never been an issue for me! I’ve always been extremely sure of myself and where I want to go with my career, so staying true to myself and what I wanted to do has always just been an automatic thing.

3. Being diagnosed with autism at 21 added a new layer to your identity as an artist and advocate. How has this diagnosis changed the way you approach your music, your message, and connecting with your audience?
Being diagnosed was definitely the best thing to ever happen to me. It answered so many questions that I had about myself, and I didn’t even think that being late diagnosed was a thing until it happened to me. Now, any time I get the chance, I try my very best to bring awareness to how autism looks different for everybody, and how it’s not a one size fits all. My music talks a lot about the different struggles I have faced socially, as well as with my anxiety. I’m always authentically myself in my songwriting, and hope that shines through to people.

4. You've worked with producers who have major credits with some of today's biggest artists. What's the most valuable lesson you've learned in those professional collaborations, and how has it shaped your own creative process?
To not be afraid to say whatever idea is on your mind, even if you think it sucks! Sometimes, those are pivotal moments in sessions, and can lead to some of the best songs.
5. "Miss Me" is gaining traction at radio and earning recognition in major songwriting contests like the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Can you walk us through the story behind that song and what it means to you personally?
One day in 2023, I saw this random TikTok saying “I know you miss me, ‘cause I’d miss me too” and I immediately knew I wanted to write a song using that quote. I brought the idea into my very first songwriting session with Olivia Gunn, who’s now my absolute best friend in the world, and we (along with her boyfriend Joey DePrizio, who also currently mixes and masters all of my songs) wrote Miss Me! It’s definitely my favorite song of mine, and no matter what, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Go stream (XOË MILES)!
6. You've been voted Fan Favorite at SongFest and Pop/Contemporary Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards. With all this momentum building, what's next for Xoë Miles, and what impact do you hope to make in the music industry moving forward?
I’m currently in the process of wrapping up mixing and mastering for my debut 14 song album, as well as gearing up to release my next single (don’t have an exact date for it yet, but hopefully asap)! I’m also focusing on filming social media content to post, as well as even starting to write for my next project, so you can follow me at my socials to get all of the latest updates!

7. Finally, what is your favorite place to go in Los Angeles?
I’d definitely have to say either The Grove or Century City Mall! There’s so much to do at both of these places, and they’re definitely my must visits when I’m in town. Hopefully I can permanently live in LA soon and go even more often!
