10 Best-Kept Secrets in Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills Hotel Pool Secret Spots

A trip to Los Angeles isn't complete without rubbing elbows with the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Sure, you could hop on one of the many "movie star home" tour buses that parade through town each day (and we're not too proud to admit it - they're kinda fun), but if you're looking to experience the 90210 like a local, we've got you covered. Here's a list of the 10 "best-kept" secret things to do in Beverly Hills for your next adventure.

You could pick up a fake Oscar trophy on Hollywood Blvd as an LA souvenir for your friends, or you could gift them gourmet cheese like the rich and famous. The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills is legendary for its massive selection of select cheeses, wines, and charcuterie boards. While hot with the locals, this spot is not as well-known by outsiders, so trust us – your friends will be impressed.

Beverly Hills is known for its mega-mansions, but tucked in a corner among the luxury homes is a fantasy cottage that looks like it came straight out of a children's story. Colloquially known as "The Witch's House." There's a reason the Spadena House at 516 Walden Drive looks so fairytale-like; it was built by a Hollywood art director. Today it's a residential home, but the homeowners are friendly to respectful visitors. If, by chance, you're in the 90210 on Halloween, stop by for Trick or Treat. It's a hidden local favorite.

It's Beverly Hills – indulge yourself a little (or a lot). Nusr-Et on North Canon Drive may look like your typical steakhouse from the outside, but its elite clientele knows better. This secret celebrity hangout lets you dig into a gold-wrapped cut of steak. Extravagance never tasted so delicious. FYI: It's also one of the most instagrammable Beverly Hills restaurants.

If you are going to spend a fortune on filling up the tank, you might as well do it in style. A trip to Union 76 on Crescent Drive and Santa Monica Blvd will provide you with that opportunity. This awesome "space-age" fuel station has been around since the '60s, but most visitors still don't know about it. As a treasured landmark, a visit to this hidden gem is part of the quintessential Beverly Hills experience.

Everyone knows that Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills is home to some of the most luxurious brands and exclusive designers on the planet. But did you know that if you visit the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style mid-week, you're a lot more likely to spot a celebrity or receive VIP treatment? And if you plan on spending big, stores like Saint Laurent and Burberry might just invite you onto their hidden VIC (Very Important Client) terraces.

The Beverly Hills sign, located in Beverly Gardens Park, is one of the best things to see in Beverly Hills, but this park is actually home to something even more special: one of the biggest (and oldest) ficus trees in the world. Special fact: the whole city of Beverly Hills was built up around this one massive tree that was planted over 100 years ago.

Remember that iconic episode of "I Love Lucy" where Lucy and Ethel struggle to keep up with their work at a chocolate factory? Lucy's inspiration came from Edelweiss Chocolates in Beverly Hills. The machine she used for scene practice is still in operation today. This spot is also a "go-to" for celebs who want to purchase special treats for their loved ones. Tip: Make sure to try the chocolate-covered pretzels.

Spago is one of the top-rated Beverly Hills restaurants, but we know something that most visitors do not know. Spago has a secret menu and we'll share a couple with you. Order "The Spicy Tuna Cone" nonchalantly with your sunglasses on, and they're sure to think you're someone important. You can also order a secret dessert, the "Kaiserschmarren," two days in advance (so plan ahead).

Need a break from all that shopping? Lounge poolside at the newly designed, very pink, Beverly Hills Hotel cabanas. Tourists often assume they can't visit if they're not a hotel guest, but you can pop in for all-day breakfast and al-Fresca meals at the Cabana Cafe while soaking up some sun. This would definitely make a lot of influencer's lists of fun things to do in Beverly Hills.

Los Angeles is crazy about Sprinkles Cupcakes, and for a good reason - they're amazing. Even more amazing? Beverly Hills is home to a 24-hour Sprinkles ATM. No matter what time you end your day, you can grab a sweet treat to round out your visit to the 90210.
